Having a gun in your home does not automatically make your loved ones safer.

Simply having a gun at home doesn’t ensure family safety, especially without professional training in gun storage and emergency response planning. The Parma Armory Shooting Center offers comprehensive gun safety training to enhance health, wellness, and safety in Ohio. With increasing gun ownership partly due to fear and changes in concealed carry laws, the risk of gun accidents in homes has risen. Traditional methods like hiding guns are ineffective and potentially dangerous. The center emphasizes the need for its Household Weapons Training Classes, taught by certified instructors, to prevent accidents and prepare for emergencies. Despite a high rate of gun ownership in Ohio, only a few have undergone such specialized training. The center’s HHW1 class aims to equip gun owners with the skills needed to safely manage firearms at home, going beyond basic CCW classes.

  • Course goal: Develop knowledge, skills and attitude essential for the safe, effective, and lawful use of a firearm in a home, for legal self- and family-defense.

Q: How much does the HHW1 course cost?
A: For a limited time we are reducing the $80 cost to only $32 for everyone. We feel there is nothing more important than helping all gun owners protect their loved ones in all circumstances. House Hold Weapons 1 is a gun-safety class every adult should take to become a better family protector.

Q: Can my family, friends or colleagues take this course with me and get the same 60% discount?
A: Yes, that would be wonderful. The more Home Defense Training everyone has, the better.Β 

Q: Can I bring my own gun and ammo?
A: This course does not include live fire training.

Q: Will I be able to take notes during the classroom segments?
A. Yes. We encourage taking notes, but you must supply your own paper and writing tools.

Q: Will food or drink be served?
A: No, since this course is only four hours long. However you are invited to bring snacks, and beverages can be purchased from our vending machines.



This 4 hour course is designed especially for those who have already purchased a firearm or are planning to for home defense. Covering training to secure your firearm appropriately, in the home, while enabling it to be used instantly if needed to protect yourself and your loved ones.
